If anyone did a DYI fender eliminator, lets see some pictures! Also I'm looking to buy one or do it myself, what brand did everyone go with and how much was it, was the install smooth?

Did the Yoshimura kit, it was pretty easy to do, looks great and has LED plate light included.

Only "mod" is drilling out a few rivets from the stock fender's signal mounts, but it preserves the stock fender in case someone would want it, lol.

Taking my time took about 45 minutes to install.

As for modding the stock fender, I thought about it very briefly, but simply shortening it would not have cleaned up the clunky, "Transformers" cartoonish look of it.

Looks really good! The yoshi is expensive but I've heard and red reviews that its one of the better and easier to install. I want one that's simple to install. I'm totally leaning towards buying one rather than DYI because, you're right, just chopping doesn't clean it up like I'd like.

I've got a 05 and a diy kit the PO did and aside from The mounting bracket for the license plate you wouldn't know it's a diy
