Hey guys, bought a new ign. switch and it came with a resistor, in the box. not sure what to do with it. Thanks Joe

The resistor is necessary, without it it won't run, it's there to prevent "HOT WIRING" the bike

If you look at the schematic, you'll see it's attached to the ignition switch itself

Thanks for the schematic, looked at my coils, they are not marked + and - , how do I know which spade connector to connect my red hot wire to.

Cut wire, then solder and heat shrink

Easy enough

One the coil you have two male spades, one black, one green.

The wiring harness has a red, green, and black. The red wires attach to the black and the green goes to green, black goes to green as well.

got the coils wired up, thanks. Now back to the ignition switch. looked at the schemactic, my wires in the wiring harness does not match up to the colors. These are the colors I have. 2001 model.

white with black stripe
big white wire
red with blue stripe
gray
white with green stripe
red

Still not sure witch wire to put the resistor in.

You'll have to follow it from the ignition switch to the ignition module to verify you have the proper wire. Just take another look at the wiring diagram.
