They call it motorcycle oil for a reason. Bikes need good quality oil that has good shear strength and additives for a wet clutch. (I think two of the differences are, or used to be, phosphorus for bike clutches and moly for car oil) I use, and have always used 10-w40 Mobil One Synthetic in all of my bikes with no problems and lots of miles. Some people do have great luck with car oil, (but why risk it?)
