Not unless you plan on re-jetting the carbs, I wouldn't just slap a (K&N) Pod Type filter on the bike. Removing the airbox would allow too much air into the carbs, resulting in a poorly running bike.

Heard from the dealership that it's best to leave the air box. Hence, the bike, even after carbs rejetted. Will never run right again.

I was wondering if i have to get my carbs cleaned and resynced anyway if its worth it to switch to pods during that process? or just stick with the stock airbox even if im changing jets and stuff anyway.

Many are finding out that simple needle adjustments, the stock airbox and a full exhaust can net 30 or more HP on the new Ninjas. In some cases a smaller than stock jet is used. Those who switch to pod type filters try to get those numbers a well, but with much more tuning, testing, trial and error.
