I have read alot here and havent really found a solution to my problem. A lil history first. I got a very good deal on this bike. 250 bucks with all new plastic and fresh paint. The problem is it wont run. I can crank it and get it to idle perfect. Around 200o rpms once warmed up. Someone tried to do a airbox mod on it. I cannot get it to rev up. As soon as you hit the trottle it bogs and dies. I noticed it is rich at idle but I feel it is going very lean off idle. I also noticed when I cleaned the carbs that the air mixture screws have been un capped. Can anyone give me some advice on what to do next. Is the a specific jet or passage that feeds fuel right off idle? I guess something like an accelerater pump on automotive carb? any help would be great. thanks james

If I were you the first things I would do is go over exactly what the PO did to the airbox and see if you can get an OEM on ebay just to kind of start over with it. If the bike were sitting for a while, not only could the carbs be clogged(check. You already cleaned them), but there could be stale gas in the tank and in the hoses that may be clogging gas flow. You could try to do a quick fix on that by putting in some seafoam. If that doesn't work then you could figure out how to actually get rid of the stale gas(I've never done it that way. This is the hard way).

If all of that doesn't work, then I would just rebuild the carbs. You can get a carb rebuild kit from the Kawasaki dealer or probably find one on ebay.

Again, first things first, check the airbox and it wouldn't hurt to put some seaform in the tank and let it idle for a little and let the engine get warm as the gas/seafoam goes through the engine and then continue to try and rev it.

I guess I forgot to add it's been running on new gas and seafoam. The tank and petcock are spotless. The only kits I see only have a bowl gasket and a new needle and seat. Could it be going instantly lean due to the airbox being gone? I did order the k&n pod filters. I suspect it's just too much unrestricted air causing a lean condition. I'm ase certified but these carbs are kicking my butt. And thanks for the reply. Also wanted to add the local dealer wants 500 to rebuild them and tune. 300 for just a bench top rebuild. If there is a complete kit with vacuume diaphragms I can't find it.
