oblivion007 Are you implying that octane for our motorcycles is a thing where within a range is the best, not necessarily the higher the better?

The difference is the resistance to pre-ignition. The compression ratio in the 250r is designed for 87 octane. Using a higher octane changes the burn rate that the engine was designed for. I trust the engineers at Kawasaki know what octane is best for our engines.

Akmarcos12gauge Yea this is my first bike too and I put supreme in it. Most people might tell u the they use this an that but I will tell u this u use lower gas and it will cause more carbonization in the carb and stuff just like a car. Most people don't know that unless they work on their cars themselves but despite what all say I use supreme

Question on gas/octane rating

My manual calls for an octane rating of 87.
Does it do it any good to put in gas of higher ratings?

I know what the ratings mean but I don't know their significance on this motorcycle. What do you guys think? I've been putting in 89 and 91 lately because my friend suggested but like usual I have questions.
