dbrown21 thanks a lot! one of the needles are in fact gummed up. I'm gonna spray some carb cleaner on it and try to get it moving.

TurtleSE Another pic, pull the pin that holds the floats in place and it hangs off the floats when you remove them.

TurtleSE First 2 things I would check are the fuel valve inlet needle for proper operation and then the correct float height. Sometimes the fuel valve needle gets gummed up and jams. That pin on the end should snap in and out. Try pushing it in and out with a tech screwdriver or equivalent. Replace it if it doesn't work right.

dbrown21 Thanks a lot guys. That really helped out. Now I have a second problem. I put my carbs back in today and started up the bike. When it started, gas was leaking from the carbs. Have an idea of what this can be?

TurtleSE A lot call it the petcock. The manual textbook term is the fuel valve. Both terms describe the same part.

tadster00 I was right. It connects to the fuel tank on the right side of the petcock.

dbrown21 Thanks a lot tadster00! Let me know. I'm gonna check out my bike when I get off work today

tadster00 I believe that one connects to the gas tank. Can't remember if it's that one or another one. I'll look at my bike tomorrow and let you know.

TurtleSE So I had a look in my manual which covers all years and it says the difference between the model years is that the 2008 on models has it going to the "T" connector I mentioned. Then the 1988 -2007 models it goes to the fuel valve. It's called the "fuel valve vacuum hose". Hope this helps?
