Michigan Ninja Rider I'm looking to shim the needles on my bike and remove the snorkel as well! Does anyone have it know of step by step directions in maybe YouTube or a forum in how to do it?

Ricomtzjr At first ride, later Saturday night, it didn't seem to ride well at low rpm. Maybe it was just my high expectations. Took it out for a short Sunday morning ride to check it again and to get ready for an oil change, and it was great. Response was almost immediate and pulled well throughout the low/mid range.

I took it on the highway to check the higher power band, and I wasn't disappointed. Following, I took it up a small mountain pass (3800-5200 ft). I was able to pull up the 8* incline in 6th gear all the way up to 70mph with relative ease.

I did not notice any obvious stumbles through the entire rev range. I ride daily, so I am consistently observing the bikes behavior...

I am pretty happy with the setup and don't think I'll be making anymore mods until I get an exhaust/jetting kit. I may drill the slides, but not sure when. Gonna ride this mod for a while.

Ricomtzjr Took the snorkel off, and of course caused an even more lean issue down below 6k rpm. Today shimmed the needles with 2 #4s washers...

It warmed up very quick and needed little choke to start. We'll see how it rides later.

Ricomtzjr Agreed, I like loud...that's what my truck is for...my 500 had pretty good sound for stock, but even that was too loud for my liking, needed combat earplugs to be comfortable. A nice quiet motorcycle exhaust is good for me. Besides it makes enough noise when I am up in to revs to satisfy my noise needs.

tadster00 you'd be causing your engine to either run rich or run lean. Basically, the engine will be working harder or not working hard enough, and both are bad for the engine

not re-jetting could seriously harm the life of your engine. You don't have to do it, but obviously if you don't re-jet it will cause some serious problems

you also may not get it right the first time you re-jet and may have to make adjustments every so often. Most people never get it right. That's the main reason I've stayed away from aftermarket exhausts. Plus I like my bike quiet lol

Ricomtzjr Just out of curiosity, what would happen if I didn't rejet? Severe problems, or just disability?

tadster00 yes you do. Anything besides of the stock will require jetting
