Battery - cheap gel replacement? Or pricey lithium?

Hello friends,
So a few weeks ago I got my first ever bike ('09 250). I am getting it ready for the riding season which is quickly approaching, even being in the chilly Canadian prairies.

Here's the issue I'm having: The battery is at 11.2v and when I attempt to start the bike it'll maybe try cranking the first time or two, sometimes even start (rarely), but most of the time i just get the clicking from the starter.

Ideas? Is that considered low voltage?

I have a grand total of 6km on a bike (loved every one of them) so excuse my ignorance.

How regularly should this "battery charging should be a part of the normal maintenance cycle" take place?

I've had my stock battery 5 years. I try to at least check the voltage and put it on the charger at least once a month.

How you do it is up to you.

I'm looking for a replacement, does the price reflect the quality on these batteries? Should I just go ahead and spend way more or are these (and similarly priced ones) ok to use?

Also, has anyone tried lithium based? (obviously way more $$$)

I'm not sure about those ebay batteries and how they hold up. However there's really no need to spend way too much either on a fancy battery (if trying to cut cost) unless you just want too.

A couple of rider's have reviewed the Shorai and Ballistic lithium battery on the Ninja and liked them.

The stock Yuasa battery is top notch and can be had at a good price.

I decided to bit the bullet and try out a Shorai lithium battery from Revzilla.

For the same size battery I was able to go up to a 12A, should help cranking in the chilly Canadian spring and fall.
