Doesn't Want to Shift into First

2007 10K miles resists downshifting into first from second. Coming to a stop I engine brake down into second. After the stop, I try to shift into first to get rolling again, but it's taking 3 or 4 tries before it'll go. I have to really kick it down or start (jerkily) in second. Just had clutch plates replaced due to "excessive glazing" per my mech. Any thoughts?

Shift down to first while you're rolling the stop. If you take a look at how the tranmission works you'll see why. They prefer to shift while rolling rather than from a stand still. If not hold the clutch in rev the engine a little like 1.5-3k rpm just don't over shoot it a lot and shift down.
