Non-Start w/ an '05 - At a Loss
OK Here goes...
Rode the bike hard in the rain for about 400 miles with several stops. Parked outside under cover, same place as usual. Three days later (all rainy) went to start and had a nearly flat battery and no ignition. I put the battery on the trickle charger for about an hour. Battery wore down to nothing and no start. Tonight I had the battery on the charger for a couple of hours, sounds like the motor and starter are spinning to proper speed, still no luck. I covered the following bases:
Full tank, put in some dry-gas just in case.
Vacuum line on petcock works
Fuel flows through the petcock appropriately
No blown fuses
No separated connections that I can find
Both plugs were dry and chocolatey, with nice fat spark
A tablespoon of water came out of the airbox drain line when I pulled the plug
Air filter was dry except for a little condensed oil in the stand-side bottom corner
Trying to start the bike in neutral to prevent the clutch/stand issues
I'm putting the battery on the charger overnight. Short of needing every last amp to start the motor, any other ideas on what could be keeping my bugsmasher from starting? I have all three legs of combusion - air, fuel, and a spark. Just no joy.
