odd throttle issues

hey guys, i noticed on my newly aquired 2005 250r that my idle is pretty much out of wack. it'll idle at around 1.2k right after warming up. but after i ride her for a bit she idles at 2k.

also noticed that she pulsates/surges while in 2nd, 3rd, and 4th gear and holding the throttle steady.

where do i find the air adjustments?

how should idle be set?

how do i tell when the chain needs to be replaced?

what is the maint. schedules for the 250r?

i noticed the bike shifts hard into first and 2nd, is this normal?

do these bikes have a rev limiter?

These bikes have limiter, so it will bounce off if you hit it. I've verified this. Maintenance on these are pretty standard, oil change, air filter change, chain lubing, coolant change, sparkplug replacement, valve adjustment, etc. The idle adjust is on the left side of the bike, pic below. I usually warm up the bike completely and then set the idle. The bike take a while to warm up, so you may need to ride around a little bit. I think the manual suggested at 1300-1500RPM, but I set it at around 2k RPM.
