Speedometer cable

Hey guys new user here. So I bought a used 2008 Kawasaki ninja 250r and the owner told me that the speedometer doesn't work and it might be electrical, he doesn't know exactly. So I looked it up and seem lots of the time its the speedometer cable coming loose or whatever so I unscrewed the speedometer cable from the front tires and it seems to be missing something? Looking at pictures of new speedometer cable usually shows a two prong attached to the end?

sorry nobody answered this earlier. Yes, the cable should definitely have at last one prong on each end. You may need a new one

Tadster is right. Also, when you install your new one, attach the end at your wheel first, as you will have to spin the split shaft to get it to seat right, and tighten it. If the 2008 is similar to the previous model, then the top end is much easier to install if you have the front fairing off. Be sure that you tighten both ends with pliers, as this will help keep that guy from falling off again. These things seem to fall off all the time. I would guess because the person was so anxious to get the bike running properly again that they don't take extra minute to tighten them properly.
