2008 Ninja 250r overheating

My bike was in a wreck. I replaced the radiator as my old one was dented. I was cruising on the highway in stop and go traffic when i realized my temp gauge was on. As soon as i pulled over, i felt the radiator and it was too hot to touch. I don't think that is suppose to happen. I let it cool down and rode it home. I didn't see the light. There is a clip on the left of the fan that i had broken but i still was able to connect it. If this could quite possibly be backwards, would it cause any issues with cooling ?

thanks

If your temp light was on then the fan should be running. If the fan is not running you may want to check all your connections or replace the fan switch.

The radiator temp can get very close to 200 degrees or more in certain cases. On a properly working cooling system the thermostat will start to open between 146 ∼ 152F, with full opening lift of the thermostat @ 176F. So, yeah it can get pretty hot.
