2008 250r no start or sometimes starts

I've got an issue with my bike starting and I was curious if anyone could help. So when I go to start the bike it may or may not start. Here's a youtube link that shows the issue spot on. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Neu3OqFNCA

So I think I've got it narrows to a cable going from the start button to somewhere in the bike. Here is a picture of the offending cable http://i.imgur.com/wU9dNIn.jpg

Note that it's not normally exposed, I exposed the wire. It's curious, if I hold/push the connection together at the bases it will start up no problem, while it's on if I move this cable around too much the bike will shut down.

So I guess I know that the cable is an issue, but I don't know where to find the part. I'm looking at the 250r part diagram and cant find either end. Does anyone know what the part numbers would be? One end is the push start button one the right handle, and the other end goes into the bike.

There appears to be a short in your control housing. You can try taking it apart to see whats loose besides the housing itself or get a replacement. Also make sure there is a small gap between the housing and throttle grip some the throttle doesn't stick.

I tried taking it apart and nothing seemed loose in it, I refitted everything together to make sure. Still having the same problem. That's exactly the part I was looking for, thanks. I'll see about replacing it and post the results.

Just installed the part, didn't work It's definitely the other half of the wiring from that part though. I can wiggle the cable and the bike shuts down. I believe the bike is losing the connection to the engine switch so it shuts down thinking the switch is in the off position.

A friend of mine just had a similar problem, he ended up just buying new controls to fix the issue.

1. SLK 230K AMG SPORT
2. VW RABBIT 2.5
3. 08 Ninja 250R Track Prepared

Hey, I have the same exact issue on my 09 ninja 250. Did you find the solution to this problem?
