Sounds like a fuel issue,
It could be a number of things, so let's start with the easy/free things first.
Make sure there is no water in the gas, you can do this by opening the drains on the bottom of the carburetors, be sure to have a cup to catch the gas in.
Also check the tank as well, remove the fuel line, and apply vacuum to the petcock, be sure to have something to catch the gas here as well. This is also a good to check the peacock for proper operation, in both run, reserve, and off positions.
Have you installed a fuel filter? Did you switch to reserve before this happened? Any modifications to the bike?
