Fuel Tank capacity?

Okay, well I had a very weird thing happen today, while I was out for a ride, I had to switch to the reserve, I went another 5 miles and found a gas station. Pulled up, put the bike on the centerstand and proceed to fill the bike, now the weird part, it took 5 gallons?!
So my question is is this normal or is the gas station pumps a bit off?

I'm not your mom and I'm not paying for your parts, so do whatever you want with your own bike.

Very weird. Do you reset the trip meter every fill up?

Also, about the 5 gallons, maybe you overfilled? You can keep putting gas in all day long and you'll find it in the air box and leaking out of the overfill tubes hanging from the bike near the centerstand.

Yes I reset the trip meter, it was reading 240 miles at the time of the fill up.
I filled it up to the top, but didn't overflow it, and keep in mind it still had fuel in it.
I will have to keep an eye on it the next time, also I will try a different gas station.

I did find the reason why I was getting some weird numbers, a bad petcock, rebuilt it now all is well with the world, at about 210 miles I'm forced to switch to reserve.
