Decisions...

Ok so I have been looking and drooling over this 250R. I want, nah need it... I am in the Navy and out to sea at this time so I still have about 4 or 5 months to think this thru. My CPO and the others in my shop are already laughing at me and harasing me about it. I have ridden before on dirtbikes and my dads harley xlh 1100. However, I have never rode on main rodes with traffic or on the highway. I am a small guy at 5'9" and only 140 pounds 25 years old. I am curious if i could handle a 500cc or if you all still think I should ride the 250 as I was previously thinking.

thanks for your views and opinions in advance.

Alot of people gave me crap about getting a 250 as well. However I feel you could handle a bigger bike as long as you could keep the speed down because new riders cant really handle the high speeds not that they cant handle a bigger bike. as for the 500 goes i assume you were looking at the kawasaki one and I personally dont like there styling plus they are a little bit longer than regular street bikes but ultimatly its your choice this was just my 2 cents.

starting with a 250 will help build your skill as a rider far better than a larger displacement bike. Don't listen to your comrades, they're jealous

i love my 250...but I will be upgrading when I get skilled enough... but I do love my ninja :-) I will keep it a year I told myself and learn all that I can learn.

I think the 250 is the perfect learning tool, and I too got ragged on. Ive had people say "Ive got lawn mowers louder than that" or alot of people didnt even know they made 250s LOL..
