doesn't really matter as long as it's good quality. If money's an issue, then look on craigslist and get some used gear. Just make sure you buy a brand new helmet as you never know what issues or how many drops a used helmet has.

But craigslist and ebay are good sources of cheaper/used good gear.

Also, all my gear is textile, but it doesn't really matter as long as it provides good enough protection

I found the Alpinestars T-GP plus AIR mesh jacket to be really
Good with heat....and it has the removable liner inside for cold weather...I live in Cali where it's mostly 70s and lower 80s...you can upgrade the armor on it too...a Helmet is something you wanna go big on...that's pretty much your only form of protection...boots would be something that protects your ankles and that it has the metallic insert on the sole so in case you drop the bike on your foot it doesn't crush it...the alpinestars fastbacks are pretty good and cheap...super comfortable...

Lol sorry I'm a bit of an alpinestar guy

I'm an Ohio Guy and our summer was record hot. There were weeks were it was borderline 100. I rode half naked to stay cool. U may also want to check into some gloves. Bugs aren't friendly and the asphalt will make bones. Definitely go big on a helmet. I have a cheap one that lets air through constantly. Not enough for hot and on cold its too much. Plus the cheap ones are heavy. Motorcycle-superstore.com has tons of gear and I have a 10% off coupon if ur interested. Only good for this month.

Maybe I'm alittle late but, I agree with the alpinestars gear. Great stuff. As for the statement about helmets, go big. I agree 100%. It's the most important piece of gear you'll get. And to fit the bill is Arai. The best helmet made. If people tell you that they're not, they don't have one. lol Check out compacc.com. Check the closeouts. You can find some from $300ish to $900 or so. Good luck

Later,
