New member with a Ninja 250R track bike

Hello, my name is Josh and I bought a 2010 Ninja 250R yesterday. The bike is in perfect condition with only 322 miles on it. It came with a Jardine carbon exhaust and some frame sliders.

My plans for this bike are to make it a dedicated track bike. I've been wanting one for a few years, and the right deal came along on a great bike, so I went for it.

I already changed the oil in it, removed the frame sliders and will be selling them here, and I had to clean the carbs out as the bike sat for over a year with gas in it and wouldn't start.

This week I will be ordering a set of fiberglass race fairings, stainless steel brake lines, and a set of Pirelli tires. The www.feellikeapro.com guys are running a Supercorsa SCII 110 front and a Rosso II 140 rear. I hear that is the hot setup for tires.

The bike is very slow, but I'm gonna be using it as a training tool to get faster on the asphalt.

My other bikes include a few Yamaha YZ250F's, and in a few months I should have either a 13 or 14 Hypermotard SP for a street bike. Prior to this I've had a 600RR track bike, an RC51, a few Supermoto bikes, and about 20 various dirt bikes.

Looking forward to learning more about this little bike, making it perform well on the track, and sharing my experiences and settings with the community for anyone else going down the same path.

Here is the bike, I think I'm gonna stick with the blue on the race fairings.

Not sure on the suspension yet. Think I'm gonna keep this as stock and as cheap as possible for as long as I can.

Welcome to the forum Josh!!

I have come to terms with the possibility of dying while riding, life has a 100% death rate. I would rather live having fun and end up dead in a motorcycle crash than never do anything fun because it's dangerous and I might get killed. No one makes it out alive anyway. - From a friend on another forum, used with his permission.
