it is my first bike. been great to me.
The 08+ Ninja 250r not only looks great, but is very reasonable to ride. It has plenty of power (but not enough to get you in serious trouble) and get great gas mileage. I considered SV650s, R6s, and even a Buell Blast. For $5000 new, the 250r is a great deal.

Smitty, I weigh 200lbs and just purchased a 250r a couple weeks ago. It has plenty of power and has no problems getting to 75mph. I am having a blast, absolutly love it!

At 75mph, my bike is about out of breath. It will push forward to about 100, but not like a Mustang would. As a 250 owner, I hate to turn you away from the bike, but I think a 650r would be better suited for you. It sits similar to the 250, and has the smooth power curve of an inline 2, but it has more power.

I have no problem keeping up with bikes 3 times bigger than mine cc's wise. It's a matter of keeping your rev's up through the gears - just make sure you have the bike broken in first. It's a great bike with excellent mpg and handling. Sure a 650 is faster but my 250 has plenty of power above 80 and I weigh 205. Enjoy whatever you decide on.
