New to riding from Cali

Hey all, just picked up a brand new 2012 Ninja 250r (Candy Lime Green). I'm new to riding and did some extensive research on a good beginner/commuter bike. Found the best reviews online with the Kawi.

So.. what's the first mod I should do?

I was thinking about doing sprocket kit +1 -2. From what I understand, you will gain top speed, but lose acceleration. I thought about upgrading the full exhaust, K&N filter, and re jet the carb to compensate for the loss in accel. Of course after the full exhuats, tuning will be necessary. I wanted to do this on my bike for when I take trips on highway, it wont be so hard on the engine doing 75mph (which screams at 10,000rpm stock!). The sprocket kit shjould change ratios and drop rpm down about 1500 to 2000 rpm which will also give more confidence when passing other on the highway.
