Question Doesn't start

Well last time I started the bike and it ran for a like a half a mile and it died on the next stop sing. Granted it felt down on power and it wasn't responding very readily. So I loaded it on the truck and took it home. My initial thought was that the filter is bad, so I took it out and it was filthy and covered in dirt so I cleaned it. Then I took my finger and felt how is it inside the box and it was dirty also, and there was water in it, so took that out and cleaned it. But while the air box was out I plugged everything back in to see if it will start well same problem it didn't start. So now I am thinking that I should clean the Carbs and see ifthey got dirty too but the Output of the airbox was clean but then there was water in it so yea. If you have any suggestions on what the bad airbox can do to an engine and what I should address so that it wouldn't get that dirty again. Oh and I will post if it will start and what I did if that helps.

You could have a blown head gasket based on the sweet smell observation. But also sometimes bad gas (from sitting around too long) will also get a weird kind of sweet smell.

Best bet would be to have a mechanic check it out to be safe.

I have come to terms with the possibility of dying while riding, life has a 100% death rate. I would rather live having fun and end up dead in a motorcycle crash than never do anything fun because it's dangerous and I might get killed. No one makes it out alive anyway. - From a friend on another forum, used with his permission.
