Ive wanted a street bike since i can remember, my ex boyfriend had one and i rid on his all the time. he was also a crazy driver and did stunts. im looking to get one soon and i love the 08 ninjas, im kind of short though, like 5'1 or 5'2 and 117 pounds.. i want advice on pretty much everything, to do with my weight and height to getting a license for a bike, the class, insurance, financing, etc. anything will help. please and thank you!
The Ninja 250 is perfect for shorter riders & beginners. I have a 2012 and the seat height is 30.5 inches. I'm sure the 2008 is probably the same. It's also very light. If any of your friends have a 250, I would suggest sitting on it to make sure your comfortable. If not, you could always walk into the dealership and try one out.
The 08 250 should be ok for you. I'm 5'6 155lbs and roughly have a 30 inseam. I can flat foot on one leg or use the ball of my feet with two legs. It just fits right for me.But in general, women have longer inseam, so it should fit you unless you have short legs for your size.Lowering is possible. However, it will limit your lean angle. Build some confidence by having your right foot down on stops. If this is an issue get taller shoes or move your butt cheeks more on one side to get that extra height when holding the bike up at a stop. I kind of had to do that when I first test rode a liter bike, those had 32''+ seat height. Eventually you will get used to it. You could get a lower seat if they make it for a ninja 250.
The 250 is cheap to insure, so you shouldn't have to spend a lot on money other than the bike & gear, assuming your buying a bike that's well maintained. Don't skimp on protection, get at least a helmet, jacket, and gloves. For riders, the road is like a sand paper. Stay safe.
