Just got a 250r given to me.

Hey guys, my son in law is military and have been in Korea for almost a year. He's coming home in May for a few weeks then he and my step daughter is going to Italy for three years. He bought a 09 Ninja 250r new and I had it at my house for a couple months now. He said he was gonna sell it so I was trying to get it ready to sell for him. I cleaned out the gas tank, changed.plugs, still gotta change oil. It's got 6900 miles on it, so while I got the farings off, I was gonna check the valves. Anyway, last week my daughter handed me the keys and told me that they wanted me to have it. My son in law and I exchanged several emails and I was offering to pay something for it. He refused and said its "a gift", so I'm the new owner of a 09 250r!! Anything else I should do while I got it apart besides check the valves, change oil, clean and lube chain? Plugs already changed, fresh gas been run though it, runs good, idle great. Thanks, I'm pretty excited.

Yes, rearsets, clipons, cut the kickstand bracket off with an angle grinder. Add some steel braided brake lines, Elka Ohlins or Penske rear shock, build the forks, and race bodywork. Don't forget the new race tires. Then get to the track! Enjoy!

haha unless you're taking it to the track, you sound fine! I do like my SS brake lines though, even for city riding

Just make sure it starts and see how it runs after you check the valves. To me you sound good to go. Probably wouldn't hurt to check the air filter and brake pads if you haven't already

That is an Excellent bike to cruise around in, Congratulations! I am Korean and white and was born in Seoul Korea. The bike is very fun to ride and commute with. I usually just cruise around long roads in hills and watch the ocean. Your bike should be fine, mine was a 2009 also, just check if you have any leaks on the forks.
