is this OKAY?

So I bought a 2009 ninja 250r with 1300 miles or so for only 2k. I'm a bit on the taller side but it was such a steal I bought it. My friend I bought it from lives in washington while the bike is here in california with me. I still havent received the pink slip in the mail, therefore

1- i took the license plate off because the tag is expired
2- I don't have insurance on it because i do not have the pink slip
3- i ride it to work with no license plate, only the frame.

If I get pulled over for not having a plate, would it be okay for me to tell them I am waiting for the pink slip from the mail? wouldn't I still get in alot of trouble because it doesnt have insurance? Please help.

Chadwick newbie rider

I think you would get in trouble for that! Really depends on the officer, but any vehicle that is not registered or no insurance is big fines and possible impounding of your bike. Don't risk it!! Just wait till your info comes in the mail.

You live in Cali. They'll impound your bike if you get stopped. I would not chance it, especially with no tags or insurance.

1. Not sure why you took out the license plate out just because its expired. Rather ride with expired tags than no license plate and no pink slip at all.

2. How does not having your pink slip result you from not being able to get your insurance? All you'll need is just your VIN number if you buy progressive or geico online.

3. Like I said, place the plate back on or just wait until you have everything settled out before riding.

1 because the sticker is expired, here in california they make the actual owner go to court to pay for the ticket for expired tag. That means he would have to fly from washington, without a plate it looks like i purchased it new.

2 i didnt know you could get a motorcycle insurance without the actual title in hand and only by using the vin number. i'm fairly new at this..

3 you are absolutely right about this. I just got my bike permit so I was very excited and my job is local so I wanted to kind of test it.

Thank you for ur answers guys, I DO appreciate it really
