2008 humming noise

so ive been reading around and found out about this humming noise that comes from my bike. it is the gas tank cap and when i open it, the humming stops. the difference is that my bike will do this noise while i am riding or stationary, the threads ive read only talk about stationary. the 2 solutions ive found are to get a new gas cap or drill a bigger hole.

get a new gas cap: are there any gas caps that arent stock parts that still lock and will still fix the humming? if so, please post a link to one or give me the part number or something.

drilling the vent hole bigger: i dont really understand how i am supposed to do this.. there is one small hole under the cap in the tank that i am assuming is the hole i would have to drill? if that is right, how do i drill it without getting shards of metal in the tank because im pretty sure thats bad.

are there any other solutions?

It is a normal process and is not a performance problem. The problem comes when it does not make noise and vents the extra pressure. It will make noise at any given time especially in direct sunlight and engine heat. You can do the gas cap mod, but it will not necessarily completely get rid of the noise. Not unless you are really good with disassembly of the gas cap, I would not recommend doing it unless your cap stops making noise. There are small diaphragms in the cap that can be damaged if drilled too deeply. It's one of those things you kind of get used to over time. Even some of the bigger bikes do it. You can switch to a racing gas cap, but they don't lock. if the noise gets too annoying for you to bare, just crack the cap open, which is always a good thing to do anyway. It ensures that you don't get too large of a vacuum, which can cause fuel flow problems.
