1986 Ninja EX250R wheel swap 16"-17"

What wheels will swap on the 1st gen Ninja 250's? Does anyone here have a way of getting the 17" wheels off of the 2008-2013 Ninja 250's on the older 1st. gens, and if so, is there a thread here that will outline the steps to mount them? I recently picked up a 1986 1st. get Ninja, and want to race it. The wheels would be my 1st swap, so if anyone has the info as to which wheels will swap over, please enlighten me. I currently race a 1989 Honda VTR250 Interceptor, and a 1975 RD350 Yamaha, and the front end on the Interceptor came from a 1989 CBR600F1 Hurricane. So, I am not adverse to machining or changing steering stems to graft another front end if necessary. But, I figure someone here has done this before, so here I am, asking questions. Thanks in advance!

I am thinking that it may be easier to swap some Honda CBR600Hurricane wheels instead, as they are cheap!! A 2.5" front and a 3.5" rear would be just the right size for the 250E or F models! Now to check the axle sizes for front and rear...

Did some quick checking, and the Hurricane rear has the same axle size, but the front is different... HOWEVER! The EX500 Ninja has the same axle sizes front and rear... I think that these wheels, from 94-97 are all 17" rims and should be able to be adapted with minimal work. My friend Pat has a cycle salvage, and I hope he has these rims!
They may need different adaptors, rear caliper mounts, etc. but should be a CHEAP alternative to $200 Ninja 250J rims...

I have determined that the EX500 wheels from a 1994-2009 will be able to work on this EX250R-E1 Ninja. I will have to modify the EX500 caliper mount to fit on the right side, not too sure how much if any will have to be milled fro the bracket, as I have not received it yet. I did not have to use the EX500 spacer, as the stock EX250 one was correct, and it actually was wider then the EX500 one, but it lined up the chain on the sprocket well. I am including a pic of the rear rim and chain installed for reference.

I received the caliper bracket today, and lo and behold! It fits perfectly!! So, to install an EX500 wheel from 1994-2009 all you need is the left spacer from the EX250, the EX500 wheel and right hand spacer, either from the EX500 OR the EX250, and the caliper and bracket from the EX500 (same years). Now, I have to figure out whether I want to weld a slide block for the caliper bracket to be held with, or to modify the brake stay for the EX250. Decisions... Decisions...
After this, I will see what it takes to mount the EX500 Front wheel from the same years (1994-2009).
