Depends on what affordable is to you. Yoshi and Twin Bros are the two main ones still being sold, but they're $300+ and just slip ons. You could try looking for a cheap Muzzy exhaust, which is a 2 in 1 and requires modification to the lower fairing to fit properly.

Of course, any exhaust other than stock requires a rejet

Check out reviews on the Dan Moto Titanium($168) or JISU($145) exhaust. I got the JISU exhaust and like the way it sounds. The review are about 50(Like)/50(Dislike) I have only had the exhaust on for about a week(400mi) so far I have had no problems. Most of the bad reviews are from 2011-2012. I am not sure if it's a luck of the draw or if the company put better quality into the product. Also, this exhaust is really loud. You will read that in any review wether good or bad.

He's got a classic 250 (88-07), at least he posted under "Classic 250" Unfortunately, there's not a Dan Moto for the older model.

shouldn't the slip on fit the older models? I thought they were the same size pipes? Or is the mounting different?

The 1988~2007 have duels, the 2008~up use a single, and mount totally differently.
