New Member and Question about Gas Tank cover

Hello I'm a new member on this forum and I bought my 2011 250r a couple of months ago.

I am actually curious about how the gas tank cover works against water seeping in. I was actually cleaning my bike and I was pouring water on top of the gas tank cover to clean off the soap. I'm just curious to know if water might have seeped into the gas somehow. Does the cover seal off everything from entering the gas tank? because I do see a pretty big gap where the gas cover is where water could get into...? Anyway, I hope you guys can help me out here. Thanks!

There's a hole in your tank. Open the gas tank cover, that rubber seal prevents water from entering and contaminating the gas in your tank. With the gas tank cover open, look closer, left of the gas hole, you'll another small straw size hole. That hole allows all the rain and wash water to drain to the ground thru a rubber tube and dumps that water just in front of your rear tire.

Thanks a lot. I was just concerned after reading that people got water into their tank when the drain plug was clogged and was wondering if theres a way for water to get in. Thanks
