Ride for the Marines

Here in Gloucester, we are having a poker run. It is next Saturday, and it is to benefit a local Marine Corps League outfit. It is $20 per bike, $15 per passenger.

no website, sorry
here is the deal...
I need to update my location. I just moved to Mathews(I know, only one "T", thats how we spell it) county (adjacent to Gloucester county). Mathews is a very rural location. (so is Gloucester, but not as rural as Mathews) The Marine Corps League in our area meets in Gloucester. The Marine Corps League is a new organization. (less than a year)
Year after year, folks in our area have donated to Toys for Tots. All of our generous donations have gone across the creek to Newport News, Hampton, Virginia Beach, etc... None of the donations have benefited local children. The Marine Corps League worked very hard last year to not only collect donations for Toys for Tots, but they also ensured that our local children received donations.

They have many other plans on the drawing board. Finding toys for our local children wasn't their first victory. All of these fellers are ex-Marines. Many of them fought for our freedom overseas. I can't wait to see what some of the worlds greatest warriers (no, not ninjas- marines) can bring to our community next.
The Marine Corps League is not only a non-profit organization, they are completely voluntary. Most charities (including poker runs) collect money, but at least one person in the organization receives a salary. Not the case with these folks.
The poker run starts at Olivia's at Gloucester Point, and travels up rt 17 to Tappahannock, then to Kilmarnock.
First bikes leave at 11.
Live entertainment at destination in Kilmarnock (Savannah Joe's)
$20 per bike, $15 per passenger.

I support these folks one hundred and ten percent, and I am participating in this event. If anyone can reasonably make the event,(or donate to this organization) I would greaty appreciate it.
