Clutch Foot Pedal/Gear Shifter

I have a 2009 Ninja 250r and on the left side where my gear shifter it is at the same height or level as the foot rest for my left foot. It is kind of uncomfortable to shift up and down with it because I really need to pull up to shift up and have to move my foot a lot to down shift. My buddy has a 2004 Honda CBR 600 and his is slightly lower than his foot rest so his foot is angled more pointing towards the ground. Is it possible to adjust the angle of my gear shifter to match his? I haven't really messed much with this on my bike and I was just wondering?

im not sure about the 09's but on my 05 the shifter linkage has a spline where the post comes out of the transmission and you can loosen the linkage and turn it changing the position of the pedal. like i said thats for the pre-gen bikes though.
