Both allow you to advance or retard the timing based on your intake /exhaust set up.
A power commander for fuel injection models will also allow you to set the AFR/ Fuel maps to a small degree using software.
The BRT-i-DTIS is the only ECU made for the carbed Ninjas. The programmable version allows you to change (advance or retard) the timing map and raise the rev limit up to 30 steps. The pre-programmed version has 2 switchable maps with the timing advanced (smooths out the power curve). 1 map is for 87 octane use, the other is for 91 +. Ideal if you plan on modifying your intake (re-jetting), full exhaust and or larger pistons. You may see an increase in better throttle response and up to a 10-20% gain in performance.
