Its really more of a baffle for some back pressure for those of you who like the sound of no muffler, but for 15$ its fun to play with
I made this short exhaust for only 15, all i used was steel wool $2.97, A paint grate $2.50, and a bolt on auto exhaust tip $9.87. just cut the grate out of the frame and cut it to size with the exhaust tip, and put 3 layers of steel wool on the outside of the grate, use a large socket for size and roll up the grate so the steel wool is on the outside, remove the socket and push it in the exhaust tip, and make sure it goes down far enough to be pushed against the exhaust pipe, so it wont blow out. and bolt it on, that easy and once you get it on, you can take a screw driver and bend some of the grating to make the hole smaller, to give you some back pressure, if done correctly, you shouldn't have any loss of power and slight weight reduction from removing the heavy stock muffler.
As for noise...it sounds just like a straight piped carbonated engine should and its great. Its loud enough to alert everyone around you that you're there, but not loud enough make it painful to listen to while riding around. but i suspect states that have noise ordinances on motorcycles may not like this very much.
and the picture that shows the inside, ill probably buy a big washer to cover all the steel wool and still have a hole
