Almost died today. Lol

Hey guys. New to the 250 crowd. I rode other bikes and stopped riding a few years back. Recently had a baby and have talked my wife into getting another one. Promised her something with a smaller engine haha. So ended up with a ninja 250 a couple weeks ago. Long story short today I got cut off by a semi after pulling out from a green light. Sounds really bad but I suppose wasn't that bad. I was only going about 10 mph and laid the bike down. Slide across three lanes of traffic and only ended up with minor minor road rash on my forearm. Crazy huh? So anyway both handle bars are bent. That seems to be the only thing wrong with the bike other then some cracked fairings and a couple blinkers. I'm a mechanic but I honestly don't know a lot about bikes or what to check for. Nothing seems Bent other then the handlebars. Can I bend them back with some heat and bar? Any tips on what to look for or anything else would be appreciated. Thanks!

You could probably bend them back, but it may be better just to buy new ones. Which side did you lay it down on?

May want to make sure the forks aren't bent and depending on which side, make sure the shifter lever or brake pedal aren't bent. If it slid on the right side, there could be a chance the oil sight glass was damaged.

Obviously, watch it for a couple days and see if anything may be leaking like oil, gas, or coolant.
