Rusty Chip on Gas Tank

I've been looking to purchase my first bike. Looked at a 2011 special edition 250 today. Bike looks good and runs well except for some minor cosmetics. Of particular concern is a small chip in the gas tank that has rusted. I was wondering if this could become a bigger issue and how should it be treated? I've added some pics to help assess.

I don't think it could become a bigger issue at all. You could also put a clear coat on it just to seal up the spot. You could also get these pins from the ColoRite which will match the paint and you can fill in the spot.
