The bike just died while i was riding it!
Its a 2000 ninja 250, the only light that will turn on is the speedometer light nothing else works.
The engine turns over when i bump start it but wont spark.
How do I figure out what is wrong?

Take everything apart and then put it back together again. Check all your fuses too.

I think you got it, sounds like a short. I would think the circuits would be written on the outside or inside of the fuse box lid. Weird that it isn't. Hopefully someone with the old model ninja will jump in and identify the circuit for you. Until then you can start tracing wires :dunno

also, are you making sure that you are putting in a fuse with the correct ampage? If you arent that can blow a fuse quickly as well.

Had you done any work to the bike recently prior to the problem?

Check the wiring to see if it's chafing or pinched somewhere.

Look carefully around the ignition switch and the harness connections up around the controls.
