Hwy 18 to Hwy 38 loop (http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF8&hl=en&msa=0&msid=106609537842799649557.00045316a9e02b32cb3d6&z=10)
After I got my bike out of the shop, my dad, fiance and I decided to roll up the mountain to see how my bike ran (Much better!)
My dad showed us this route and I must say it was a beautiful ride.
At the start of hwy 18 going up are long banked sweeping 2 lane turns that seem to last forever and are perfectly paved. Eventually it turns into the usual single lane mountain rode, but it gets so curvy. I recommend it.

I tried the maps.google.com thing out as was suggested by Vtech, but apparently I am not really accurate with my clicking so the mileage is not entirely accurate.

Sorry no pictures, I didn't have my camera with me :photo

That's a nice route! I've done it in several different ways before, and once even in heavy fog. I know several people in the area would probably hit that route, maybe this weekend? :thumb

Sorry for being a little late to chime in, but since I'm very fond of those roads myself, I thought I'd throw in my $.02.

That is an awesome route! It's freezing during winter months, but around this time of year, when everyone is cooking in the valley, the temperature is perfect on this road. I've been spending my summer up in Big Bear and so I've had fantastic opportunities to just rake up the miles on this route.

Some highlights of it are the 2 lane section at the base of the 18 (Waterman Ave.) that Werewolf mentioned, the newly repaved section of the 18 just before Big Bear, and the 38 almost all around. The downside of it is that there tends to be a lot of traffic on the 18 (and especially the 330 which isn't really part of the whole loop but more like a short cut). Otherwise, it's a highly recommended ride to do at least once if you live far away and to do regularly if you're close by.

Next time you guys organize a ride up here I almost guarantee that I'll join you.

Did you guys end up riding it this weekend? If so, how'd it go?

It was fun but got cut short. Forsaken19's bike on Sportbikers.Net lost power and we couldn't bumps start it. So we ended up coasting his bike from the top of the mountain all the way down.

Im mad that I missed the ride today. I totally forgot until my alarm went off at 8:00am.

Nope, either stator or rectifier. Half of the group took off without realizing that his bike was broken, the other half stayed back trying to push start the bike. If you have seen Forsaken19 (Nick) in person, then you know how funny it is for a bunch of us to try to push start a 6'7" 250lbs dude. :lmfao
