Just got my 08 in today and everything is perfect (one would not expect this from ebay) except for a hideous tank gaurd sticker. It appears to be a super scary skeleton smoking a cigar while riding a wheelie through fire...hard gay. Does anyone know the best way to get this off of the bike without damaging the paint underneath? Or at least so that I can put a normal plain black gaurd in its place?

"Hard gay" LOL

I've never had one of those on my ninja 250, but a buddy had something like that on his bike and if I remember right I think we used a hair dryer to get it soft and flexible and then used our fingernails to peel it off. The hair dryer is important though. You have to keep it hot. Might be able to use rubbing alcohol once you start peeling little bits of it off.

Hope that helps.

It really is only a sticker... as mentioned once you heat it up the glue will release a lot easier. As long as it wasn't on their since day 1 and it didn't do a lot of baking in the sun... the paint should be fine underneath. Nothing a good wash and wax couldn't handle ;)

Even so, once the sticker comes off, the difference in paint shades will go away if he continues to keep the bike "baking" in the sun. :)

Yeah I'd use a heat gun or hair dryer, fingernails and rubbing alcohol. 250guy nailed it. That's how I've removed unwanted decals, dealer emblems and stickers from vehicles in the past
