Ever since I had my first bike( a ninja250 of course) years ago, I've been wanting to buy one and mod the heck out of it. I want it to still look pretty much stock, but be able to blow 500's and 600's so bad their jaws drop to their boots. What all kinds of mods do I need to do to make this possible? And please don't say it can't be done, I've SEEN it done more than once, 50-60Hp from a ninja 250. And unfortunately, I REALLY like the new 08-09 all-black bodystyle, which of course is more expensive and costs more to mod... but if you were going to do this, what would YOUR options be? Thanks for any and all suggestions and help, and if you flame me.... prepare to drop your jaw!

well I suppose everything can be done if you have the money to spend.

There are few ways of improving your ninjette power:
1. Get the engine swaped with ex500 unless you want it to be all original 250
2. Get everything you can to get the engine juice out more hps like port polished, even installing a turbo charger. Heard some workshop in europe has succesfully done this
3. Bore up your 250
4. Replace exhaust
5. Change jet kit

IF you have the money you can do anything you want including hiring a specialist for engine upgrade. The question is why would you want to do that?

If you want pure speed then 250s are not for you simple as.

Man honestly...if you're looking to "blow" 500s and 600s...you need a bigger bike. You won't be able to do that with a 250R, no matter how hard you try, unless you get a bigger engine, which will be a job in itself.

You're better off just buying a ZX6R man.

I think it was Racer X who posted an answer to a similar question a while back. Racer X is working on setting a speed record on a Ninja 250 so I think he knows what he's talking about.

Basically, and I'm paraphrasing his answer here, in order to make an engine make more power you need to make it spin faster. Unfortunately, the ninja 250 engine wasn't designed to do this. I think Racer X said the bearings weren't designed to handle that kind of stress.

So unless you're willing to transplant a EX500 engine and build that up then you might have a chance. Otherwise you're facing an uphill battle. And that hill is pretty steep, too.

Then again, if you have the money practically anything is possible.

Guys, this thread was posted a year and a half ago. Pretty sure the guy realized the mountain he was up against.

He also posted similar threads on various forums and pretty much got shuned on all of them.

Just love our little 250's for what they are... a great beginner bike that as long as you are not spending tons of time on freeways... is all most people will ever need!

Oops. I really should look at the dates a little more closely.

I had no idea he posted similar threads on other forums. Those types don't tend to last long.
