Hi everyone (new rider here) I am looking at a 09 ninja 250. i was just wondering how are they on the highway? If anyone knows the NJ turnpike thats what it's going to be on most of the time at two 30 mile clips at a time. is it ok to go with a 250 or should i get something bigger? thanks

I have had no problems on the highways. Even the 250 gets up to highway speeds pretty fast (faster than most cars) and can sustain speeds of ~90 mph with no trouble.
I'm not familiar with the NJ turnpike, but hopefully what I said gave you an idea that you can compare against.

I have close to a 60 mile round in which 50 of those are highway. I haven't had a problem riding on the expressway. As mentioned before, you can go roughly ~90 mph with no problem. This is the upper limit for the 250. Windy days can move you around some, but I believe that would happen on any bike.

I ride to work every once in a while. Its a 20 mile commute. I reach about 100 mph on the straits of California highways. YEP! the freeways that have 5 or so empty lanes at night.
the bike should be fine, unless your kinda big. Might want to get a double bubble wind screen to help in aerodynamics. If this is your first bike then stick to a 250.
