Hi everyone,
For those of you who are do it yourselfers out there I have a question.

This past weekend, I changed the oil and filter on my 2008 250R and added exactly 1.7 quarts (I measured it twice) I started the bike, checked for leaks (there were none) and went around the block with no problems, however, after putting the bike back in the garage and waiting about 15 minutes I checked the sight glass (after leveling the bike of course) and noticed the amount of oil barely went over the first mark of the sight glass.

Thinking that I might need to wait until the oil settles I tried it again about an hour later with the same result (Oil barely going over the first mark of the sight glass)

My questions are is this normal or does my bike needs more oil than what the service manual calls for?

Any advise / help will be greatly appreciated

Thats strange. When I first did the oil change at 500 miles I overfilled it even though I added 1.7? i had to drain some a re-check.Its weird as long:photo as the oil is between both marks it should be ok.

Were you leveling the bike by yourself? If you have it on a rear stand, you'll get an inaccurate reading. If you're holding the clip-on yourself and you have it balanced straight up and down (or so you think), chances are it isn't straight up and down. You have to pull it a little more towards you, it'll feel like you're pulling it too far and you'll get a little scared, but that's when you know it's upright and that's when you'll get the real reading in the window. Worst case is put just a little more oil in, perhaps the filter is holding some of it and that's why it doesn't look like it has enough.

Last week i had change oil and oil filter but i had also change it before one month and i just ride 600 miles after that engine will make noise and service center suggest me to change it so i just know that it there is any fault regarding to engine or other.
tell me the solution for that?

I thought mine was low too and when I first got the bike after 1000 miles, I thought oh no ! Did I burn it?! So mistakenly I topped it off. Wrong idea! Didnt know it had to be balanced. duh, so I drained and redid the whole thing. 1.7 is just right , I would not deviate. Also check after you have been riding. Checking it cold may look like you have no oil!!!
