I have a 05 ninja 250 that is making a knocking sound and it wont go past 10mph. Took it to pcp and they replaced the cantane tentioner but that didnt stop the problem. Now they are saying I might need a new motor. Any suggestions or feedback?

i dont know much about bikes mechanically but i know i broke a rod in a car a few years back and it lost significant power and made a knocking sound so it sounds to me like a new motor is not out of the question.
