2013 Kawasaki Ninja 300 Preview

Kawasaki Ninja 300 Forum

As part of Kawasaki's "Times Square Takeover," Team Green officially unveiled two all-new 2013 models sure to shake up the status quo in their respective categories. Making its debut first in Europe and later Canada, the Kawasaki Ninja 300 is making its way to the U.S. market as we suspected. And as we also predicted based on EPA documents, the Ninja ZX-6R sees a return to the 636cc displacement first seen in the States a decade ago. Details on that machine can be seen here.

After finally experiencing competition in the beginner bike market from Honda's CBR250R, the Ninja 300 looks to regain its stranglehold in the class. The new 300 takes the 250cc, liquid-cooled, parallel-Twin mill of old Ninjette and pumps it to 296cc by virtue of a longer stroke (49.0 mm vs. 41.2 mm). Bore dimension remains the same at 62.0 mm.

Already a feature in European Ninja 250s, digital fuel injection is now part of the package for American riders. This should cure the EPA-mandated lean jetting used in the old 250's carburetors, upping performance and mileage while helping it meet ever-increasing emissions requirements and making cold start-ups a breeze. Dual 32mm throttle bodies feed air and fuel to each cylinder. Engine internals get a makeover as well, with larger intake ports and intake valves increasing in size 1mm to 23.6mm.

I kinda want!
Maybe in a few years I'll find a "used" one that has but a few miles on it.
MSRP of $4799, meh.
Nice to include digital injection, but curb weight on the heavier side where much larger motorbikes fall under.

On side note: You guys ever come across a used 250 for sale, but the seller is asking for way more than priced new? "Limited Edition". "Like new". "Upgrades".

I saw an ad for an '06, fool wanted 3k for it. That's how much it was brand new back in the day, and the lucky buyer still has to pay the state the sales tax! (most states, I suppose).

asking $3,000 on an '06 is crazy. I'd pay $2500 for it if it had a low amount of miles

I paid $1500 cash for my '07 with 9,000 miles. It was in "good but not great" condition. I'd say it's in good condition now that I've repaired and repainted a lot of the plastic. I think I could sell it today for $1500 even with 16,000 miles even if I returned it all back to stock

Next spring I'm going to try to sell my 07 (currently 1500 miles) I hope to get 2,500. Does that seem too high?
It's in great shape

that seems like a good starting price. Since the bike is 5 years old, you may have to expect offers around $2000-$2200, but I think you could get $2300 for it at most.

That seems reasonable to me

I think so too! At least, that's what you'd pay in my market, and really every area is different, but I think you could get that anywhere
